"FOLLOW THE MONEY" - political cartoon on post-Roe authoritarian objectives; Photoshop; 2022
Following a pro-theocratic/nationalist Dobbes decision that gutted 50 years of Roe v. Wade precedent - which had constitutionally protected a medical procedure that ALL 50+ medical boards of the US states/territories UNANIMOUSLY approve - I created this political comedy/surrealism piece to turn my personal frustrations into a more direct representation of long-term domino effect. This one case was NOT about its banning a single medical procedure, but using it as a de facto excuse to criminalize having a private life at all in the "United" States.
The piece's style is drawn from two main places - the WWII-era political cartoons of Dr. Sueess, and the surrealist mockery of dictators in L'Ange de Foyer by Max Ernst.
This piece was accepted into the "Political Storm 2022", an online art show hosted by the Las Lagunas Gallery in Lagunas Beach, California (showing from Nov 1st to Nov 26th, 2022.) You can find the archive of the whole show here.

In early 2021, I decided in order to expand my multimedia portfolio, I needed to create something that would test all my skills and grow them. 18 months later, however, due to many, many technical and developmental complications, it hit its final brick wall in February '22. What you see here are the few intact pieces of that project.

Exceptional Errors of Prediction of the 2020s
When 2019 ended, many people - myself included in misguided bravado - were in hindsight naively hoping the 2020s would be our turn-around. That false bravado inspired the image on the left.
The image on the right is my submission to the Merriam-Webster dictionary for the definition of "reality check." More wisdom & technical skill, perhaps, but still worldwide pandemics & following epidemics, nationalism, politically-motivated violence, conspiracy theorists, natural disasters breaking the scale AGAIN, worldwide collapse of education, medical, and logistical systems ...
... and that was before 2022 - Ukraine, Armenian-Azerbaijan, Yemen, DRC-Rwanda, and Isreal-Palestine wars; Ethiopian civil war; the resulting refugee waves from those conflicts; continuing authoritarian power grabs in Afghanistan and America and Brazil and Germany ... and now 2023. Keep the helmets on, people.
